McMurdo Fast Find 220 PLB

Wherever you are in the world, your PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) will be able to alert if something should happen to you. It uses the Cospas-Sarsat system, which is a system of satellites that covers the entire surface of the earth. The PLB is not bigger than a smaller mobile phone, so you can always have it with you.

The built-in GPS provides a fast and very accurate position for a quick rescue operation. PLB 220 transmits on the following frequencies, 406 MHz, and on 121,500 MHz (the international emergency frequency) for bearing of e.g. a rescue helicopter. Fast Find 220 sends two signals simultaneously, one for the alarm to the global 406 MHz satellite system, and the other (121.5MHz) which is a signal that rescue personnel track. After activation, FAST FIND sends signals for at least 24 hours.

Do not forget to register your PLB
It is important to register your PLB so that the rescue unit will understand that it is you who is in need. Registering PLB is easy and free. Owners / users of PLB administer their data in the International Beacon Registration Database (IBRD). The IBRD database is owned and administered by the organization Cospas Sarsat.
